The singing hopefuls of NBC's The Voice are going to have some Broadway competition on season two as American Idiot veteran Tony Vincent looks set to appear as a contestant when the show returns on February 5, according to the actor's website.
"I have auditioned for the hit television show The Voice," Vincent recently posted on his site. "It's been an amazing experience thus far and if you all want to see how I did at my audition, turn into the show's premiere episode. The talent this season is top-notch. You don't want to miss this!"
Vincent originated the role of St. Jimmy in American Idiot as well as the role of Galileo in the West End's Queen musical We Will Rock You. He has also appeared on Broadway in Jesus Christ Superstar and Rent and released the solo albums Love Falling Down, Tony Vincent, One Deed and the EP A Better Way.
Vincent's appearance won't mark the first Broadway star to be featured on The Voice. Rent veteran Frenchie Davis competed on the show's first season earlier this year, but was eliminated right before the show's final round. Davis went on to appear on The Voice's summer tour as well.
The Voice appearance isn't the only exciting news in the upcoming months for the actor. Vincent and his wife, his American Idiot co-star Aspen Vincent, are expecting their first child, a girl, in April.
