As the classic made-for-television movie Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella eyes its first Broadway production, Broadway.com asked readers to vote for which actress they would most like to see play Cinderella. The votes are in, and readers narrowed down the list of prominent, young Broadway actresses to three ingenues they would like to see waltz the night away with Prince Charming. Take a look at the results below.
1. Laura Osnes - 29%
Currently starring as Bonnie in Bonnie and Clyde, Osnes’ sweet disposition and girl next door beauty make her the perfect choice to play Cinderella. Osnes is no stranger to finding love on Broadway having served as a leading lady in Anything Goes, South Pacific and Grease.
2. Lea Michele - 22%
Glee and Spring Awakening star Lea Michele would be a natural choice for Cinderella. Michele's unique and powerful singing voice is sure to remind audiences of the original Cinderella, Julie Andrews.
3. Sierra Boggess - 10%
Sierra Boggess already has experience playing a princess, having made her Broadway debut as Ariel in The Little Mermaid. Boggess, whose starred in the Broadway revival of Master Class earlier this year, is set to return to the Great White Way in spring 2012 in Rebecca.
