The Roundabout Theatre Company’s Tony-winning production of Anything Goes will kick off a national tour at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square in October 2012. The tour plans to visit over 25 cities, including a stop at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre. Casting and official dates will be announced shortly.
Featuring a score by Cole Porter and a revised book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman, Anything Goes tells the lighthearted story of the crew and passengers aboard a luxury cruise ship, the S.S. American. Among the passengers are Evangelist singer Reno Sweeney, who pines for her suave pal, Billy Crocker. Billy however has his eyes set on bride-to-be Hope Court, much to the dismay of her conservative mother, Evangeline. Meanwhile wanted criminal Moonface Martin has also hopped on board to escape the law.
The Broadway revival of Anything Goes, starring Sutton Foster and Joel Grey, won three 2011 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical. Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, the production opened on April 7 and continues to run at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.
