Christopher Jackson will join the cast of Memphis as Delray for a limited engagement beginning January 24, 2012 at the Shubert Theatre. Current cast member J. Bernard Calloway will take a temporary leave of absence beginning January 22 to appear in Two River Theater Company’s production of August Wilson’s Jitney. Calloway is expected to return to Memphis on February 28.
Jackson’s Broadway credits include The Lion King and In The Heights. He also appeared on TV's A Gifted Man, Nurse Jackie, White Collar, OZ, Gossip Girl, Fringe and The Electric Company.
Memphis, which tells the story of the segregated underground clubs of the ‘50s, features a Tony-winning score with music by Bon Jovi’s founding member/keyboardist David Bryan and lyrics by Bryan and Joe DiPietro. The musical currently stars Adam Pascal as Huey Calhoun, Montego Glover as Felicia, Derrick Baskin as Gator, Cass Morgan as Mamma, James Monroe Iglehart as Bobby and John Jellison as Mr. Simmons.
