Glee creator Ryan Murphy has found fresh success this season with the FX thriller American Horror Story, so the editors of Elle asked him to corral the female stars of his TV hits for a fashion shoot inspired by classic horror movies. From Glee, Murphy tapped five lovely ladies to pose for photographer Carter Smith, and the pictures, featuring captions by Murphy, appear in the magazine’s February 2012 issue.
In case you don’t recognize the movies (and in some cases, the stars!) from the photos above, they are Lea Michele in Creature From the Black Lagoon, Dianna Agron in Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Jayma Mays in The Birds, Heather Morris in Repulsion and Naya Rivera in Suspiria.
Murphy brags that Michele, who poses in a white Norma Kamali swimsuit, “gets that sexual thing and that ’50s style of acting, in which everything was pushed and heightened and melodramatic,” adding that the original Creature feature “really freaked me out as a kid.” Click below to watch video highlights from Elle’s photo shoot, which also spotlights American Horror Story actresses Connie Britton, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga and Kate Mara.
