Broadway vet Mark Brokaw has signed on to direct the Broadway-bound production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. The musical, which is aiming to bow during the 2012-13 season, includes a new book by previously announced writer Douglas Carter Beane.
Brokaw has directed previous productions of Beane’s plays, including off-Broadway's As Bees in Honey Drown and Music From a Sparkling Planet (Greenwich House Theater). Brokaw’s Broadway directing credits include The Constant Wife, Reckless and After Miss Julie.
Cinderella was originally made for TV in 1957 and starred Tony winner Julie Andrews. The new production is also slated to feature additional Rodgers and Hammerstein songs that were cut from other musicals, including “Now is the Time” (South Pacific) and “I’ve Lived and I’ve Loved” (The Sound of Music).
