Just in time for a big birthday, Tony-winning diva LaChanze is gearing up to bring her “milestone concert” to Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Series on January 19. The beloved Broadway vet, who has appeared in Once on This Island, Ragtime, Company, Dreamgirls and The Color Purple, which garnered her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, will be singing a variety of favorites from her repetoire at the one-night-only event. LaChanze sat down with Broadway.com Editor-in-Chief Paul Wontorek to chat about her two texting “tweenagers,” the tragic loss of her husband on September 11, 2001, her diva-licious children’s book and her performance in The Help.
