Alexis Bledel Joins Cast of Manhattan Theatre Club’s Regrets
Alexis Bledel has joined the cast of the world premiere of Matt Charman's Regrets. Bledel will play Chrissie Myers alongside previously announced star Adriane Lenox. Directed by Carolyn Cantor, the Manhattan Theatre Club production will begin previews at New York City Center Stage I on March 1, with opening night set for March 20.
The cast will also feature Curt Bouril as Robert Hanratty, Richard Topol as Alvin Novotny, Brian Hutchison as Ben Clancy, Lucas Caleb Rooney as Gerald Driscoll and Ansel Elgort as Caleb Farley.
Regrets centers on Caleb Farley (Elgort), the youngest man ever to show up at Mrs. Duke’s (Lenox) cabins, a ramshackle retreat in the Nevada desert and one of the few places men can go to secure a quick divorce in 1950s America. Caleb claims he fled his Hollywood home for the same reason as the other men in camp: to shed the lives and wives they’ve known, and loved, to begin anew. But in an era of heightened fears and political distrust, accusations that Caleb is hiding more than just a broken heart test each man’s loyalty—to country and to one another.
Bledel is best known for her work on TV's Gilmore Girls. She appeared off-Broadway in Love, Loss and What I Wore. Her many films include Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Sin City, Post-Grad, The Conspirator and Tuck Everlasting.
Bouril’s theater credits include A Man for All Seasons and The Guest. Hutchison has appeared on Broadway in Man and Boy, Looped, Exit the King, Proof and The Invention of Love. Rooney has appeared on Broadway in The Country Girl and in off-Broadway's Orphans' Home Cycle, YellowFace and Polish Play. Topol's Broadway credits include The Normal Heart, The Merchant of Venice, When The Rain Stops Falling and Awake and Sing. Elgort, who is currently a student at at LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts, will make his off-Broadway debut in the production.
The creative team for Regrets includes scenic designer Rachel Hauck, costume designer Ilona Somogyi, lighting designer Ben Stanton, sound designer Jill BC Du Boff and fight director Thomas Schall.
