Ramin Karimloo will extend his run as Jean Valjean in the West End’s Les Miserables at the Queen's Theatre. Karimloo, who joined the production November 29, is now set to remain with the musical through March 31. David Shannon will then return to the role of Jean Valjean from April 3 through June 16. Gerónimo Rauch will follow taking over from June 18 through June 15, 2013.
In addition to Les Miserables, Shannon's West End credits include The Phantom of the Opera and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Beautiful Game, for which he earned an Olivier Award nomination. Rauch is currently playing Jean Valjean in the 25th Anniversary production of Les Miserables in Barcelona. Rauch’s previous theater credits include Grease in Buenos Aires and Jesus Christ Superstar in Madrid.
Les Miserables features music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel and additional material by James Fenton. The production was adapted and directed by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.
The London cast of Les Miserables also features Hadley Fraser as Javert, Caroline Sheen as Fantine, Alexia Khadime as Eponine, Craig Mather as Marius, Cameron Blakely as Thénardier, Katy Secombe as Madame Thénardier, Liam Tamne as Enjolras and Lisa-Anne Wood as Cosette.
