Internet sensation Team StarKid, which helped launch the career of Glee’s Darren Criss, will debut its new musical parody Holy Musical B@man! at Chicago’s Hoover-Leppen Theatre at Center on Halsted. The new musical, written by Matt and Nick Lang and featuring music by Nick Gage, will be performed free of charge March 16 through 18. A filmed performance of the production will be uploaded on YouTube.
Holy Musical B@man! parodies the comic world with singing and dancing superheroes and villains. After witnessing the murder of his parents, a young billionaire makes a solemn vow to dress up like a bat and wage a one-man war on crime. When this solitary savior realizes that “one” is the loneliest number to wage a war with, he'll set out on a musical adventure to rescue the city—and find a super friend.
The new musical features choreography by Katie Spelman, set designs by Corey Lubowich, costume designs by June Saito, lighting design by Sarah Petty and sound design by Mark Swiderski.
