Tam Mutu and Over the Rainbow’s Danielle Hope to Star in West End Les Miserables

Tam Mutu and Danielle Hope will join the West End production of Les Miserables as Javert and Eponine, respectively. The duo joins previously announced star Geronimo Rauch (Jean Valjean) at the Queens Theatre on June 18.

Mutu’s London stage credits include Love Never Dies and Les Miserables on the West End, as well as Love's Labour's Lost, Anything Goes, South Pacific, Faustus, Orange Peel and Royal Hunt of the Sun. He is engaged to actress Sierra Boggess, who he appeared alongside in  Love Never Dies. He and Boggess were set to appear in Broadway’s Rebecca this spring before the production was postponed.

Hope made her theatrical debut as Dorothy in the West End's The Wizard of Oz at the London after winning the role on the BBC’s hit casting competition series Over the Rainbow.

Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, Les Miserables originally opened in London at the Barbican Theatre on October 8, 1985. The hit musical then transferred to the Palace Theatre in December 1985, and moved to its current home at the Queen’s Theatre in April 2004. When Les Miserables celebrated its 21st London birthday in October 2006, the show became the world’s longest running musical, surpassing the record previously held by the West End production of Cats.

The big screen adaptation of the musical is currently filmimg in Europe. Directed by Tom Hooper, the film stars Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Samantha Bark as Eponine, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Sacha Baron Cohen as Monsieur Thenardier, Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier and Aaron Tveit as Enjolras. Original cast members Colm Wilkinson and Frances Ruffelle will also make appearances in the film.
