Merle Dandrige has been cast in the NBC drama pilot Chicago Fire, according to Deadline.com. The Derek Haas and Michael Brandt project, which will be directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, co-stars Jesse Spencer (House M.D.)
The series follows the professional and personal lives of the firefighters at Chicago’s Firehouse 55. Dandridge will star as Kay Fitori, the team's humorless boss.
Dandridge last appeared on Broadway as the Lady of the Lake in Spamalot. Her other Broadway credits include Joanne in Rent, Kala in Tarzan, the title role in Aida and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar. Her TV work includes Sons of Anarchy, Lie to Me, Criminal Minds and CSI: Miami.
