Holiday crowds hopped to Broadway over the Easter weekend with the majority of shows experiencing healthy bumps in their ticket sales. Wicked, The Lion King and Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark all even crossed the $2 million mark. The Easter holiday also boosted the box office of religious-themed shows including Jesus Christ Superstar ($904,660) and Sister Act ($860,625). Meanwhile the spring season is officially in full swing as the remaining crop of new shows (A Streetcar Named Desire, The Columnist, Leap of Faith, The Lyons, and One Man, Two Guvnors) played their first performances. The Book of Mormon and Death of a Salesman managed to break the house records of their respective theaters yet again, and Newsies played to SRO crowds.
