Tony nominee Orfeh will play mother of the groom to her Pomeranian Boo in mid-May, according to The Wall Street Journal. The pup will marry a Chihuahua named Piper, owned by Orfeh's friend Dawn Strain, on 24 Fifth Avenue in New York City. The doggie wedding will benefit the North Shore Animal League America and Waggytail Rescue. Radio personality Valerie Smaldone will officiate the nondenominational ceremony.
Orfeh first met Boo when they starred in the Broadway musical Legally Blonde together. Boo was one of the handful of dogs who appeared onstage as Elle Woods' Chihuahua Bruiser. Orfeh and husband Andy Karl adopted Boo after his retirement from the stage.
Although both Boo and Piper are thrilled to be exchanging dog collars in honor of their devotion to one another, Orfeh hopes Piper will take Boo’s wandering eye into consideration. “It won't be a consummated cheat, but there will be a lot of sniffing going on,” she said. “He's obsessed with Yorkies. He'll follow them around the street.” The Chihuahua bride, however, remains committed to her beau.
Following the wedding, Orfeh and Strain will join the bride and groom on a honeymoon in Bal Harbour, Florida. Congratulations, Boo!
