Broadway was (prat)falling all over itself on April 18 to welcome the sight gags and slamming doors of British slapstick sensation One Man, Two Guvnors to the Music Box Theatre on opening night! James Corden leads the cast as the easily flummoxed (and always ravenous) Francis Henshall, who ends up in the employ of two small-time East End hoods. Theater lovers like Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Smash star Brian D’Arcy James were on hand to cheer for this National Theatre transplant, directed by Nicholas Hytner and adapted by Richard Bean from Carlo Goldoni’s 18th-century work The Servant of Two Masters. They added their voices to the opening night applause for hilarious “one man” Corden, his “guvnors” Oliver Chris and Jemima Rooper and the rest of the talented troupers at the theater, then headed to the Liberty Theatre to pop the champagne.
