Before the curtain could go up for the April 23 opening night performance of Ghost, the cast assembled to observe a very important Broadway tradition: the awarding of the Gypsy Robe! On every Broadway show’s opening night, the Gypsy Robe is given to the chorus member (sometimes called gypsies) who has the most Broadway credits, then he or she circles the stage as company members touch the robe for luck. Ghost stars Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Richard Fleeshman, Caissie Levy and Bryce Pinkham were feeling lucky as they gathered around ensemble member James Brown III, who was awarded Ghost’s gypsy honor, then the company got down to the business of bringing Ghost to life.
