Before inviting the opening night audience in to the St. James Theatre for Jonas Nightingale’s tent revival, the cast of Leap of Faith assembled backstage to observe a time-honored Broadway tradition: the awarding of the Gypsy Robe! On each Broadway show’s opening night the Gypsy Robe is award to the chorus member with the most Broadway credits to their name. The lucky recipient then circles the stage as company members touch the robe for good luck. On April 26, Leap of Faith cast member Dennis Stowe (who has appeared in six Main Stem shows) was awarded with the gypsy honor. Here, Stowe shares the excitement of the ceremony with Leap of Faith’s composer Alan Menken, who has seven composing credits on Broadway including current hits Newsies and Sister Act. Congrats!
