Boy’s Life: Backstage at Peter and the Starcatcher with Adam Chanler-Berat Episode 3: ‘Punk-Rock’ Eyeliner, Yoga & More Pre-Show Rituals

“I’m Hand-Helding it, baby!” Taking a page from what he calls the “Steve Kazee Book of Broadway.com Blogging,” Adam Chanler-Berat got up close and personal with his video camera this week to capture all the magic backstage at Peter and the Starcatcher. For the third installment of his Boy’s Life video blog, Chanler-Berat gave fans a glimpse at his uber-private and confidential pre-show rituals. After chewing on a granola protein bar “cause this show needs fuel,” Chanler-Berat revealed his superstitious need to consume caffeine before every performance. “I can’t do the show without coffee,” the actor confessed. “It’s pathetic. I’m keeping Starbucks open.” Next, our favorite Boy wonder warmed up on his yoga mat and got into character with an application of “a little bit of punk-rock eyeliner,” mineral face “dirt” and a super-fast hair-styling session.
