Judith Light
Nominated for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play, Other Desert Cities
"I'm thrilled and so honored. This is the second year in a row I've been nominated. In a way, I’m sort of speechless because I've been so graciously welcomed into the Broadway theater community after being away for a long time, it's really astonishing. There are not many people who would have thought of me for this role. and that's really an acknowledgment of [director] Joe Mantello. This play is so gorgeous and brilliant, and I'm so thrilled. I mean it when I say it’s an honor just to be nominated. My dad died two weeks ago, and this matters to me for him. I wish he were alive to see this. He was very special in that when I was a little girl, he and my mom supported me and he used to drive me to rehearsals and sleep in the car because he had to get up so early. I flew to Florida Sunday night for my father’s funeral, worked all day yesterday to clean out his apartment in one day, and I thought the nominations were announced at 9 so I just said, ‘Stay in bed and watch them then,’ and when I turned the TV on, they were over! Our company manager from Lombardi texted me. I’m looking forward to going back and doing the play having been nominated. That's special."
