Landing a challenging role that allows you to stretch as an actor is every performer’s dream, but having those risky choices pay off is icing on the cake. Laura Osnes, known for her Broadway work in Grease, South Pacific and Anything Goes, shook off her ingénue image last fall to play legendary outlaw Bonnie Parker in Frank Wildhorn's musical Bonnie & Clyde. Despite praise for Osnes and her Clyde (Jeremy Jordan), the show shuttered on December 30 after a month-long Broadway run. “I thought, ‘OK, well, next time,’” Osnes said of her chances of being considered for a Tony Award. But on May 2, the actress was remembered for her fiery portrayal of Parker with a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. A whirlwind 24 hours after getting the big news, Osnes stepped out for her very first Tony event, the nominees press reception, and Broadway.com photographer Jenny Anderson and reporter Gemma Wilson joined her as she prepped for the big day.
