Judy McLane will step into the role of Donna Sheridan in the Broadway cast of Mamma Mia!, after a seven-year run starring as Tanya. McLane will assume the role on June 4 at the Winter Garden Theatre, succeeding Lisa Brescia.
McLane has appeared on Broadway in Chess, Kiss of the Spider Woman and Aspects of Love. Her off-Broadway credits include Johnny Guitar. McLane is the longest running principal cast member ever to star in Mamma Mia!
Featuring a book by Catherine Johnson, Mamma Mia! tells the story of Sophie, a young woman who invites three men she believes could be her father to her wedding, unbeknownst to her mother Donna (McLane). Mamma Mia! originally opened on October 18, 2001 at the Winter Garden Theatre, starring Louise Pitre as Donna. The musical features hit ABBA songs including “S.O.S.,” “Dancing Queen” and “Take a Chance on Me.”
