Tony Video Flashback! Jesus Christ Superstar's Josh Young Recalls the Magic of The Secret Garden

Josh Young, nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, recalls the excitement of watching Mandy Patinkin as Archibald Craven in The Secret Garden on the 1991 telecast. “My earliest memory of a Tony telecast is The Secret Garden, Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman’s show. I was very, very young, about 11 years old. I didn’t know the show at all—this was before I was even interested in theater—but I remember watching Mandy Patinkin, who was an idol of mine, sing ‘Lily’s Eyes.’ That’s definitely the one that stands out in my mind.”
