Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley (Oklahoma!) will star as the killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter in off-Broadway's Silence! The Musical. Hensley will join the company for four weeks, June 1 through June 24. Hensley will assume the role from David Garrison, who is taking a short hiatus.
Silence! The Musical is the unauthorized parody of the Oscar-winning film The Silence of the Lambs. The show features a book by Hunter Bell, music and lyrics by Jon and Al Kaplan, and direction and choreography by Christopher Gattelli. The musical, which co-stars Jenn Harris as Clarice Starling, opened on July 9, 2011.
Hensley won Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Olivier Awards for his performance as Jud Fry in Trevor Nunn’s 2002 revival of Oklahoma!. He also starred on Broadway in Les Miserables, Young Frankenstein and Tarzan. His off-Broadway credits include The Great Trailer Park Musical and Sweet and Sad. Hensley appeared on film in Monday Night Mayhem, The Bread, My Sweet, The Legend of Zorro, Someone Like You and Van Helsing.
