The upcoming Shakespeare in the Park production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods may be aiming for a Broadway transfer following its run in Central Park this summer, according to the New York Post. The off-Broadway company is reportedly already in the process of raising money for a transfer, and negotiating with agents about a 20-week extension for a post-Park Broadway run.
The Public Theater production, directed by Timothy Sheader, will run from July 23 to August 25 at the Delacorte Theatre. Two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy will star as The Witch, joined by Oscar nominee Amy Adams as the Baker’s Wife and Tony nominee Jessie Mueller as Cinderella. The cast also features Jack Broderick (Narrator), Gideon Glick (Jack), Cooper Grodin (Rapunzel's Prince), Ivan Hernandez (Cinderella's Prince/Wolf), Tina Johnson (Granny), Josh Lamon (Steward), Laura Shoop (Cinderella's Mother) and Tess Soltau (Rapunzel).
Into the Woods features scenic design by John Lee Beatty and Soutra Gilmour, costume design by Emily Rebholz, movement direction by show co-director Liam Steel, sound design by Acme Sound Partners, orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick and musical direction by Paul Gemignani.
