Tony-nominated Porgy and Bess star Norm Lewis, Wicked vet Eden Espinosa and Memphis star Montego Glover will join Broadway Inspirational Voices for Highest Praise, their second annual spring concert. The popular gospel choir, made up of Broadway singers, will perform two concerts at Central Presbyterian Church on May 20 and May 21.
Also represented will be Broadway shows The Lion King, Godspell, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Sister Act, Spider-Man, Nice Work If You Can Get It, The Book of Mormon, Leap of Faith and Evita. Highest Praise will include a wide array of inspirational repertoire, including a few original pieces by founder Michael McElroy. In addition to the concerts, the group is holding an online auction to benefit its educational outreach program. Bid here for backstage tours, memorabilia and more.
Founded by Tony-nominated actor McElroy (Rent, Big River) in 1994 as the Broadway Gospel Choir, the group was reincarnated as the Broadway Inspirational Voices in 1999. The mission of the choir is to bring people of all races and religious backgrounds together to explore and perform traditional American musical art forms with an emphasis on gospel music.
