Casting has been announced for the orphans in the upcoming Broadway revival of Annie, starring previously announced actress Lilla Crawford in the title role. The young cast will also include Emily Rosenfeld as Molly, Tyrah Skye Odoms as Kate, Junah Jang as Tessie, Georgi James as Pepper, Madi Rae DiPietro as July and Taylor Richardson as Duffy. Jaidyn Young will serve as the standby for Annie, Pepper, Duffy and July.
The revival, directed by James Lapine, will open at a yet-to-be determined Nederlander theater this fall. No further casting has been announced. Based on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie, Annie originally opened on Broadway on April 21, 1977 at the Alvin Theatre. Annie features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan. The production won a Tony Award for Best Musical.
Rosenfeld makes her Broadway debut as Molly, and has appeared in The Sound of Music, The Secret Garden and Peter Pan. Odoms makes her Broadway debut as Kate, and has performed with the Maple Shade Community Alliance Summer Theatre Program. Jang makes her Broadway debut as Tessie and has appeared in Seussical the Musical, The Sound of Music and Schoolhouse Rock Live!. James’ Broadway credits include Billy Elliot and A Tale of Two Cities. DiPietro makes her Broadway debut as July, and appeared in Little Miss Sunshine at the La Jolla Playhouse. Richardson makes her Broadway debut as Duffy and has appeared in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. Young makes her Broadway debut in Annie and has appeared in The Sound of Music and The Glory of Christmas.
