Michelle Ryan will play Sally Bowles opposite Will Young as the Emcee in the previously announced West End revival of Cabaret. Directed by Rufus Norris, the production will tour the U.K. for four weeks before playing London’s Savoy Theatre beginning October 3. No further casting has been announced.
Cabaret is a 1966 musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb set in pre-WWII Berlin following Kat Kat Club nightclub singer Sally Bowles and her new friend Cliff. Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey won Oscars for their performances in the 1972 film adaptation, directed by Bob Fosse. The musical features classic tunes including "Wilkommen," "Two Ladies," "Maybe This Time" and "Cabaret." This 2012 West End revival will be choreographed by Javier de Frutos.
Ryan is best known for her role as Zoe Slater on the U.K. soap EastEnders and for starring in the cult series The Bionic Woman. Her other TV credits include Mansfield Park, Jekyll, Miss Marple, Merlin and Doctor Who.
The show's initial tour will play at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton, the Theatre Royal Nottingham, Norwich Theatre Royal and The Lowry in Salford Quays.
