Cheyenne Jackson and Emmanuelle Chriqui have joined MCC’s The Heart of the Matter, a four-night-only benefit event. Written by Neil LaBute and directed by Carolyn Cantor, the collection of one-acts will also feature Krysten Ritter with additional cast members to be announced shortly. The benefit performances take place at the Lucille Lortel Theatre June 13 through 16. All proceeds will support MCC’s Theater’s Playwrights’ Coalition program, free PlayLab reading series and literary development activities.
When acclaimed playwright-provocateur Neil LaBute turns his acid wit to affairs of the heart, one thing is certain…there will be blood! Passion, emotion, sexual negotiation, and infidelity all converge in this collection of recent one-act plays, each featuring a pair of lovers in crisis. The Heart of the Matter is an attempt to comprehend the true nature of love (or at least the fallout it can leave behind).
Jackson is eyeing a return to Broadway this fall in The Performers. His other credits include All Shook Up, Finian's Rainbow, The Agony and the Agony, Aida, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Xanadu. He has also appeared on TV's 30 Rock, Glee and Ugly Betty. Chriqui is best known for her TV work on HBO’s Entourage, Showtime’s The Borgias and the film You Don’t Mess with the Zohan. She appeared off-Broadway in Love, Loss and What I Wore. Ritter currently stars on TV's Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 and has appeared off-Broadway in All New People.
