Matthew Saldivar will assume the role of Black Stache in Broadway's Peter and the Starcatcher. Original star Christian Borle, who recently earned a Tony for the role, will leave the production on June 30 to begin filming the second season of NBC’s Broadway-tinged drama Smash.
Adapted by Rick Elice from Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson's novel of the same name, Peter and the Starcatcher features a company of 12 actors portraying some 50 characters, all on a journey to answer the question: How did Peter Pan become The Boy Who Refused To Grow Up? Co-directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, the production also stars Adam Chanler-Berat, Celia Keenan-Bolger and features Teddy Bergman, Arnie Burton, Matt D’Amico, Kevin Del Aguila, Carson Elrod, Greg Hildreth and David Rossmer. In addition to Borle's win, the show earned four other Tony Awards.
Saldivar currently appears in the Broadway revival of A Streetcar Named Desire. His other Broadway credits include Grease and The Wedding Singer. He has appeared off-Broadway in Toxic Avenger: The Musical. His film and TV credits include Savages, Tony and Tina’s Wedding, Boiler Room and Law and Order.
