Thirty years after they shared the big screen in Sophie’s Choice, Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline reunited on stage at the Delacorte Theatre on June 18 for a benefit reading of Romeo and Juliet. The pair, who most recently co-starred in the Public Theater’s 2006 Central Park production of Mother Courage and Her Children, lent their talents to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shakespeare in the Park. Before the show, patrons enjoyed a gala al fresco dinner honoring Al Pacino, then the starry crowd took their seats to see Streep, Kline and an amazing array of supporting actors tell the story of the Montagues and Capulets under the direction of Daniel Sullivan.
