Tony winner Idina Menzel has added some U.K. concert dates to her currently running North American tour, according to The Daily Mail. The Rent and Wicked vet will appear at the Apollo Theatre in London from October 8 through October 14. She will then perform at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on October 16 and Manchester's Palace Theatre on October 17, after which she will resume touring in the States.
The concerts will feature much of the material Menzel has been performing on her tour, which launched June 1 in Vancouver, BC, as well as new material added for the U.K. engagements. “There’ll be songs from Wicked and Rent, some standards—people like Cole Porter and some medleys from the Thirties,” Menzel said.
One thing the concerts won’t have is a staple of many diva’s solo shows: dancing boys. “I will not have dancers because it’s just not me,” Menzel told the Mail. “I’ll be barefoot most of the time, which is the way I feel most comfortable on the stage. I move better and feel more comfortable in my body. Everyone from Liza [Minnelli] to Beyonce has dancers, so maybe I’ll do it one day, but I’ll have to do it as a spoof, because it doesn’t feel authentic to me."
