The Tony-winning musical Cats is planning a London return with a Summer 2013 run at the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park, according to the Daily Mail. No casting or creative team has been announced.
Based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, the well-loved musical tells the story of the Jellicle Cats and each cat's individual quest to be selected as the lucky one that will ascend to the "heavyside layer." Cats features the Billboard top 40 hit “Memory.”
Featuring a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the musical ran for 21 years in London and 18 years on Broadway, where it won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical.
