Ricky Martin has signed a talent holding deal with Universal Television to develop and star in a TV series, according to Deadline.com. Martin is currently lighting up the stage as Che in the revival of Evita at the Marquis Theatre. In addition to the series, the deal also includes TV specials starring and developed by the popular star. No word yet on timing, subject matter or a network to air Martin's series.
Martin is best known for 1990s pop music hits like “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” “She Bangs,” and “La Copa de la Vida.” His television credits include a recent guest spot on Glee, an episode of The Love Boat, several Spanish-language shows and a two-year stint on soap opera General Hospital in 1994-95. In 1996, he played Marius in the original Broadway production of Les Miserables.
