The musical adaptation of the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas has canceled its premiere engagement in Toronto due to scheduling conflicts. The production had originally announced a November opening, starring Tony Danza and directed by Gary Griffin, in advance of a spring 2013 Broadway opening. Honeymoon in Vegas features music and lyrics by Tony winner Jason Robert Brown and a book by Andrew Bergman. Future plans for the production will be announced shortly.
Honeymoon in Vegas is the story of Jack Singer, a commitment-phobe who finally proposes to his girlfriend Betsy. The couple heads to Vegas to get hitched, but when wealthy gambler Tommy Korman (Danza) falls in love with Betsy (who bears a striking resemblance to his late wife), he arranges for Jack to lose big in a poker game so he can claim the bride-to-be as his own girlfriend.
Best known for his roles on Who’s the Boss? and Taxi, Danza appeared on Broadway in The Producers, A View From the Bridge and The Iceman Cometh. His film credits include Crash, Angels in the Outfield, She’s Out of Control, A Brooklyn State of Mind and The Hollywood Knights.
