Orlando Bloom may be headed to Broadway in a new adpatation of William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, according to The Sun. No dates, theater, creative team or further casting for the production have been announced.
Romeo & Juliet has not been seen on Broadway since a 1986 production played in repertory at the Belasco Theatre with As You Like It and Macbeth. The Public Theater staged a Shakespeare in the Park production in 2007, and recently held a one-night-only benefit reading of the play, starring Kevin Kline and Meryl Streep in the title roles.
Bloom's film credits include The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Elizabethtown, Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, The Three Musketeers and Black Hawk Down.
