Casting is complete for the previously announced Royal Shakespeare Company production of The Merry Wives of Windsor, which begins performances at the RSC theater in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England on October 25. Alexandra Gilbreath and Sylvestra Le Touzel will play the formidable title wives, Mistress Ford and Mistress Page, joining Desmond Barrit as Falstaff, John Ramm as Ford and Anita Dobson as Mistress Quickly. Opening night is set for November 1, and the production will run through January 12, 2013. Phillip Breen directs.
The cast will also feature David Charles (Sir Hugh Evans), Denton Chikura (Nym), Bart Soroczynski (Dr. Caius), Paapa Essiedu (Fenton), Calum Finlay (Slender), Stephen Harper (Bardolph), Martin Hyder (George Page), Julia Innocenti (Neighbor), Carla Mendonça (Neighbor), Thomas Pickles (Simple), Naomi Sheldon (Anne Page), Ged Simmons (Pistol), David Sterne (Shallow), Simeon Truby (Host of the Garter Inn), Obioma Ugoala (Rugby).
Sir John Falstaff, staying in Windsor and down on his luck, decides to restore his fortunes by seducing Mistress Page and Mistress Ford, the wives of two wealthy citizens.
The production is designed by Max Jones with lighting by Tina MacHugh and sound by Simon Baker. The music is by Paddy Cunneen. Movement is by Ayse Tashkiran and the fight director is Renny Krupinski.
