Sian Phillips, Harriet Thorpe and Matt Rawle will join the cast of the upcoming West End revival of Cabaret, alongside the previously announced Michelle Ryan as Sally Bowles and Will Young as the Emcee, according to the Daily Mail. Directed by Rufus Norris, the production will tour the U.K. briefly before playing London’s Savoy Theatre beginning October 3.
Cabaret is a 1966 musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb set in pre-WWII Berlin following Kit Kat Club nightclub singer Sally Bowles and her new friend Cliff. The musical features classic tunes including "Wilkommen," "Two Ladies," "Maybe This Time" and "Cabaret." This 2012 West End revival will be choreographed by Javier de Frutos.
Phillips’ theater credits include Lovesong, Calendar Girls and Juliet and Her Romeo, while her screen work includes appearances in films Goodbye Mr. Chips, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Dune and a BAFTA-winning role in I, Claudius. Thorpe’s theater credits include Brighton Rock, Crazy For You, Wicked, Mamma Mia! and Norris’ 2006 production of Cabaret. Rawle has been seen on stage in Evita, Zorro, Martin Guerre and Pippin.
