Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Tamara Tunie will bring her solo show Yes, I Sing! to Feinstein’s at Loews Regency beginning October 30. Tunie joins a fall lineup that includes Tommy Tune, Betty Buckley and more. Yes, I Sing! will play a limited engagement of one week only, October 30 through November 3.
The new show, directed by Mike Renzi, will return Tunie to her theatrical roots with re-imagined show tunes and jazz standards. “It’s time,” Tunie said. “I missed singing. I missed performing in a nightclub. I grew up in Pittsburgh, and regularly, my parents would take us to the Holiday House Supper Club to see acts like Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughn, Ben Vereen, Freda Payne, Stephanie Mills and the Temptations, to name a few. I also want to be able to sing until the day I die! It makes me happy! And if you don't use it, you lose it!”
In addition to Law & Order, Tunie will star opposite Tony winner Denzel Washington in the new film Flight. As an actress, she has appeared on stage in Julius Caesar, Dreamgirls, Fences, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music. She won a Tony Award as one of the producers of the hit rock musical Spring Awakening. She also produced and directed the film See You In September starring Justin Kirk. Her own screen credits include The Devil’s Advocate, City Hall, The Caveman’s Valentine, 24 and As the World Turns.
