Queering History, a new play by Maggie Keenan-Bolger, will receive a reading to benefit Green Chimneys NYC, an organization that fosters gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender homeless youths. Youth members of Green Chimneys will star alongside Maggie's sister Celia Keenan-Bolger (Peter and the Starcatcher), brother Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies), Hunter Bell ([title of show]), Broadway.com correspondent Susan Blackwell ([title of show]) and more. Helmed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt, the reading will be held at the Producer’s Club on August 19.
Written with help from the youth of Green Chimneys, Queering History redefines LGBTQ history based on hundreds of interviews and stories. Additional Queering History cast members include Celisse Henderson (Godspell), Helene Yorke (Grease) and Tom Souhrada (Mary Poppins) as well as Cheo Bourne, Jax Jackson, Stephen A. Lance, Bianca Leigh and Garrett Zuercher.
Maggie Keenan-Bolger’s playwriting credits include From the Inside, Out and Her Train of Thought. As an actress, she has appeared in national tours of The Will Rogers Follies and The Music Man. She is a sex educator and teaching artist.
