The Wire's Dominic West will star alongside Laura Donnelly in The River at London’s Royal Court Theatre, according to The Telegraph. Written by Jerusalem scribe Jez Butterworth and helmed by Jerusalem director Ian Rickson, performances of the play begin October 18. The production is scheduled to play a limited engagement through November 17.
The River is the story of a man and a woman in a remote cabin on the cliffs on a moonless night. Tickets for the production will not be sold in advance—instead, seats will be sold online and in person at the Royal Court Theatre on the morning of each performance.
West appeared on Broadway in Design For Living. His London theater credits include The Seagull, As You Like It, The Voysey Inheritance and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Best known as Detective Jimmy McNulty on TV’s The Wire, West’s additional film and TV credits include 300, The Awakening, The Hour, Mona Lisa Smile, 28 Days and the 2002 film adaptation of Chicago.
Donnelly’s London theater credits include Philadelphia Here I Come! and Romeo and Juliet. Her film and TV credits include Spooks, Missing, Casualty, The Fall and Merlin.
