Just when you thought theater couldn’t get more shocking and hysterical than The Book of Mormon, off-Broadway’s hilarious, no-holds-barred musical revue Forbidden Broadway: Alive & Kicking bursts back onto the scene. Broadway.com resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson headed over to the 47th Street Theatre to see which popular Broadway shows and musical theater stars are on Forbidden Broadway creator Gerard Alessandrini's chopping block this time around. In this colorful portrait, Squigs captures the show’s quartet of stars, Marcus Stevens, Natalie Charle Ellis, Scott Richard Foster and Jenny Lee Stern, as well as their accompanist and musical director David Caldwell and offers a hint at some of the musicals lampooned. See which shows you can identify, then head over to Forbidden Broadway to see if you're right!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
