Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions are closing a deal to acquire Thanks For Sharing, a dramedy about sex addicts starring Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, Josh Gad and Gwyneth Paltrow, according to Deadline.com. The comedy, by co-writer and director Stuart Blumberg (The Kids Are All Right), premiered at the Toronto Film Festival on Saturday night.
Thanks For Sharing follows three recovering sex addicts who forge an unlikely friendship as they undergo a 12-step treatment program to kick their bad temptations. Gad plays Neil, an addict who cheats his way through the program until Ruffalo’s character steps in as his sponsor. (The Tony-nominated actor spoke to Broadway.com during filming last October.)
If the deal goes through, this will mark Lionsgate and Roadside’s second major pick-up of the festival—the dual companies also just purchased Imogene, a comedy led by Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening and co-starring Glee’s Darren Criss.
