Before she breaks hearts as Fantine in the Les Miz movie, Anne Hathaway will take on the songs of another classic musical in a special one-night-only concert.
The Oscar nominee will headline the Public Theater benefit concert Perfectly Marvelous: The Songs of Cabaret with Anne Hathaway and Friends at Joe’s Pub on October 24.
“I am delighted to reunite with The Public for this special night to celebrate the theater’s rededication, and support its mission to spread great theater to all the people of New York (tourists are welcome, too),” Hathaway said in a statement.
Directed by Tony winner Ted Sperling (The Light in the Piazza), the concert will include music from both the film and stage versions of Cabaret, including “Wilkommen,” “Maybe This Time” and “Perfectly Marvelous.” Hathaway will welcome famous friends from stage and screen to join her in the intimate concert.
The evening will benefit the revitalization of the Public’s downtown home at Astor Place, which will be unveiled on October 4. Hathaway previously appeared in the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night in 2009.
Here's hoping Hathaway looks as great in a bowler hat as we imagine!
