Slick back your hair! Dust off your Pink Lady jacket! Former Grease lovers John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John are teaming up for a joint holiday album that will feature guest appearances from folks like Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, James Taylor and Kenny G.
This Christmas will be the first time that Travolta and Newton-John have recorded together in almost 35 years. The album will feature a host of traditional holiday songs like "Baby It's Cold Outside," "Silent Night" and "White Christmas." Travolta and Newton-John's famous friends will pop up throughout the album, including Streisand on “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” Bennett on “Winter Wonderland,” Taylor on “Deck the Halls,” and an original song, “I Think You Might Like It,” written by the songwriter of “You’re the One That I Want.”
The idea for the album came from a text message Newton-John sent to Travolta, informing the erstwhile Danny Zuko that their 1978 song was the best-selling pop duet in music history. “From the moment we decided to do this, magic happened,” Travolta said in a press release. “Everyone we contacted agreed to do it.”
“It just fell into place,” added Newton-John. “With our busy schedules, I don’t know how we got it done. John and I have always connected. That’s never gone away. We’ve been through some amazing experiences together.”
This Christmas will be available in stores on November 13. Proceeds from the album will aid the Jett Travolta Foundation (named for Travolta’s late son) and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.
