Talk about a well-muscled fight! If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet star Jake Gyllenhaal will face off against Broadway vet Hugh Jackman in the new thriller Prisoners, according to Deadline.com. The Academy Award nominee will play the audacious Detective Loki. Directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Aaron Guzikowski, the Warner Brothers film is set for a fall 2013 release.
Prisoners is the story of a carpenter (Jackman) in a small town who clashes with Detective Loki (Gyllenhaal) after his daughter is kidnapped. Frustrated by police efforts, the carpenter decides to take the case into his own hands. Gyllenhaal, who can also currently be seen on the big screen in the cop drama End of Watch, now has plenty of practice playing a hardened cop. To prepare for his End of Watch role he went on real ride-alongs with Los Angeles police officers.
Gyllenhaal made his off-Broadway debut in If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet. He appeared in the West End production of This Is Our Youth. He earned an Academy Award nomination for Brokeback Mountain. Gyllenhaal’s film and TV credits include Donnie Darko, Source Code, Zodiac and the 2005 film adaptation of Proof.
