David Hunter, the semi-finalist from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s reality competition Superstar, will star as the big-hearted elephant Horton in the London premiere of Seussical the Musical. Based on the books of famed children's author Dr. Suess, the musical will play the Arts Theatre from December 4 through January 6, with an opening night scheduled for December 6. No other casting has been announced at this time.
This new Theatre for Young Audiences version of Seussical is a compact 80-minute retelling of the Broadway show created by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and Monty Python's Eric Idle. Directed by Phillip Rowntree, the show will offer special family-friendly daytime performances.
Seussical follows the adventures of Horton (Hunter) as he discovers a whole world of Whos living on a speck of a dust. Although he didn’t win the role of Jesus in Webber’s arena tour revival of Jesus Chris Superstar, Hunter’s has appeared on stage in the popular U.K. shows One Man, Two Guvnors and Pub and Spinach.
