Bernadette Peters has quite the appetite for playing overbearing stage mothers. After scoring a Tony nod for playing the great Mama Rose in the 2003 revival of Gypsy, and having recently showed up as Megan Hitly's famous mom on Smash, the actress is once again playing a theater-obsessed parent in her new film Coming Up Roses. Peters stars as Diane, a former musical comedy performer with two daughters. While the younger daughter Alice adores her mother, her older sister Cherie couldn't wait to get away from home, and marries at a young age. As Diane and Alice fantasize about a better life, they desperately hold onto each other while facing money troubles and Diane’s unyielding depression. Peters recorded a new song, "Someone You Care For," for the movie and even belts "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof in the trailer. Take a look below, and catch Coming Up Roses in theaters November 9.
