In the Oscar-winning 1976 sports drama Rocky, Sylvester Stallone’s underdog boxer says he wants to fight “because I can’t sing or dance.” Throw that out the window, Sly! Hollywood’s beloved boxing champ is getting the musical treatment in Rocky the Musical, a new stage production making its world premiere in Hamburg, Germany, on November 20. American-born Broadway veteran Drew Sarich (Lestat) stars as the iconic boxer, with Dutch actress Wietske van Tongeren playing his shy girlfriend, Adrian. The German-language musical is decidedly a Broadway affair, featuring a score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, a book by Thomas Meehan and direction by Alex Timbers.
