Zachary Quinto, Tony nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger and Brian J. Smith will join previously announced star Cherry Jones in The Glass Menagerie at the American Repertory Theater this winter. The Tennessee Williams play will begin performances on February 2, 2013, with opening night set for February 6. The production will run through March 17 at Cambridge's Loeb Drama Center.
The Glass Menagerie follows fading Southern belle Amanda Wingfield (Jones), who employs her misunderstood son Tom (Quinto) to find a suitable “gentleman caller” for her crippled daughter Laura (Keenan-Bolger).
Tony winner John Tiffany (Once) will direct the production, which will feature set and costumes by Bob Crowley, lighting by Natasha Katz and sound by Clive Goodwin.
Quinto is best known to audiences for his portrayal of Sylar in the NBC drama Heroes, Spock in J.J. Abram’s 2009 reboot of Star Trek and for his role on FX’s American Horror Story. Quinto’s theater credits include Angels in America at Signature Theatre, Side Man, Much Ado About Nothing, Gross Indecency and A Lonely Impulse of Delight.
Keenan-Bolger has earned Tony nominations for Peter and the Starcatcher and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Her additional theater credits include the 2006 revival of Les Miserables, as well as New York City Center’s Merrily We Roll Along, Bachelorette, A Small Fire, Saved, Juno and Little Fish.
Smith recently appeared on Broadway in The Columnist, opposite John Lithgow, and the 2008 revival of Come Back, Little Sheba.
