Previews of the new romantic porn comedy The Performers, starring Cheyenne Jackson, Henry Winkler and Alicia Silverstone, begin October 23 at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre. Written by David West Read and directed by Evan Cabnet, the production officially opens on November 14.
The Performers follows two high school buddies (Jackson and Daniel Breaker) who run into each other at the Adult Film Awards in Las Vegas. Jackson plays adult film star Mandrew, who is nominated for Male Performer of the Year, while Breaker plays Lee, a tabloid reporter sent to cover the event. Ari Graynor and Silverstone star as Jackson and Breaker’s respective love interests, who get swept up in the frenzy of this crazy weekend in Vegas. When the night takes an unexpected turn, relationships are threatened. Along for the ride, are Winkler as legendary porn star Chuck Wood, who’s receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award, and Jenni Barber as Sundown, a budding adult film actress.
The Performers' creative team includes set design by Anna Louizos, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, costume design by Jessica Wegener Shay and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.
